It's currently buried deep at the back of the nuclear bunker which comprises our warehouse, and nobody quite remembers the code to shut off the killer robots guarding that part of the complex, so please give us an extra day or two to ship this to you. It's the 2020 vintage of The Chocolate Block red wine from South Africa's Boekenhoutskloof winery. Produced with a majority of Syrah grapes, alongside a delicate blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Viognier varieties. Following a suitably cold winter in 2019, a moderate summer in 2020 allowed for an exceptional growing season and this is yet another marvellous vintage of this delightfully velvety, decadent red. Boekenhoutskloof’s Chocolate Block Wine has reached iconic status , and it’s easy to see why… With an exceptionally complex , juicy palate of tart plums and rich berries this full-bodied red wine is smooth , savoury , and deliciously moreish. The dark fruity character is complemented by the brooding aromas of sweet tobacco and espresso , with the fragrant spice of cardamom and subtle whiffs of perfume. With very fine , powdery cocoa tannins , this wine is a suave , sophisticated and seductive drink with a deep berry flavour and distinctly smoky finish.
